Shoe Fittings: Dance shoes fit differently than most street shoes and sizes vary unbelievably. It always pays to try on shoes. Bring the appropriate socks or tights for the type of dance shoes you want. Shoe fittings are handled on a first come basis with the exception of pointe shoes (see below).
Pointe Shoe Fittings: To ensure our staff has ample time to spend with each student and their specific needs, we are now reserving them by appointment only, so please call ahead and make an appointment.
During your hour fitting we will be trying on several different pairs of shoes and pads, discussing pros and cons of different shoe construction, along with the care, sewing instructions, and handling and care of pointe shoes.
Here are some suggestions that will make your pointe shoe fitting go more smoothly:
- Ask your teacher if they have any particular recommendations for shoe style, ribbons, elastic, pads, or shoe shanks.
- Wear your dance tights and comfortable clothing.(preferably convertible style tights so that we may evaluate your feet and clothing that will allow you to have full movement...for instance, dance shorts, dance pants or skirt/leotard.
- Trim and file your toe nails.
- Bring in your old pointe shoes and pads if you have them.
- And parents, please bring a camera for this special day so your daughters will have a keepsake for years to come of this wonderful experience.
Congratulations Students!
It takes a lot of effort and commitment to reach the pointe shoe level of dance!
